JEFFRY WESSLER 01/14/1955 - 09/14/2025 Jeffry Rowden Wessler, 70, of Arenzville, died Sunday, September 14, 2025, at his home. He was born January 14, 1955, in Jacksonville, the son of Don and Shirlee A. Rowden Wessler. He married Gale Weglarz on June 6, 1976, in Evergreen Park, and she survives. Jeff is also survived by three children, Jaclynn (Clay) Shoufler of Williamsville, Abigail (Ryan) Miller of Concord, and A.J. (Meredith) Wessler of Decatur; nine grandchildren, Blake Jeffry, Isabelle, and Gavin Shoufler, Anna, Samuel, Clara, and Wesley Miller, and Eli Jeffry and Grant Wessler; one brother, Jay (Shelley) Wessler of Concord and their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jeff graduated from Triopia High School in 1973, where he excelled as a running back on the football team, setting multiple records. His success carried through to Illinois College where he became a member of the Illinois College Athletic Hall of Fame. Following his college graduation, Jeff joined his father and brother in their family business, Wessler Bros. Agency, where he remained actively involved to this day. Jeff's passion for football and helping young athletes carried on as he coached Triopia football from 1994-2005. His work laid the foundation for the success the program enjoyed for many years. Jeff remained a part of the program through 2008. Jeff also served on the Passavant Hospital board, and as president of the Illinois Farm Agents Council. Deeply faithful, Jeff was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville where he served in many capacities. A lifelong learner, Jeff earned several certifications, such as CPCU, CIC, and CFP. He enjoyed exercising, taking care of his lawn and community, and traveling with his family. As a parent and grandparent, "Papa Jeff" was an enthusiastic follower and fan of all of their activities. He was especially known for the close bond he shared with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Whether cheering from the sidelines of their games, coaching his kids and grandkids, or spending time with them on the golf course, he was always there, smiling, supporting, and proud beyond words. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville, with burial at Arenzville North Cemetery. The family met friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church.
