Ann Henderson passed away peacefully July 13, 2025, in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. She died of a broken heart, as her husband John passed away two months earlier.

Ann Penner Henderson was born in Beatrice, Neb., November 14, 1930. After graduating from Beatrice High School in 1948, she attended Monticello College in Godfrey, Ill., for one year, and then attended University of Nebraska where she graduated in 1952. She was affiliated with the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority where she served as Vice President. She was a member of the University of Nebraska alumni association.

Ann married John Henderson on August 6, 1952, at Christ Church Episcopal in Beatrice, and had celebrated 72 years of marriage together. They have two children, Mary Henderson of Rancho Mission Viejo, Calif., and Brad Henderson of Omaha, Neb. Two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren all from Des Moines, Iowa.

Ann, while living in Beatrice, was an active member of Christ Church Episcopal, serving on the Vestry, Altar Guild and Episcopal Church Women (E.C.W.). She later became active in Christ Church Cathedral in Hartford, Conn., and St. Margaret's Episcopal church in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. Ann was a member of P.E.O for 50 years and was active in Chapter Z in Beatrice and Chapter M in Connecticut. Other organizations Ann was involved include the Salvation Army, YWCA, and the Children's Guild, Bargain Box, and delivered Meals on Wheels.

A celebration of life for both Ann and John will be held in Beatrice at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at The Nebraska P.E.O Home in Beatrice with the funeral home in charge.

These services have been entrusted to the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice.
