With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Charity Masters on January 16, 2025, at the age of 57 surrounded by the love and support of her cherished family. Charity fought bravely against cancer, defying the odds for as long as she could, but despite all our love and strength, the illness could not be overcome.

She was born on June 13, 1967, in Nebraska City to Kenneth and Janice Case, Charity was raised in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, alongside her three siblings, Michelle, Skipper, and Melissa. She graduated from Plattsmouth High School in 1985. Though academics were not her passion, Charity was the heart of every gathering, always invited and included in the adventures beyond the classroom. From a young age, she radiated warmth and had a natural ability to make everyone around her feel welcomed and loved-a gift she carried throughout her life. In December of 1984, Charity welcomed her beloved daughter, Beth. Their bond was unbreakable, a relationship admired by many. They grew up together, inseparable, and where one was, the other was never far behind. Their love was the kind that left a lasting impression on everyone who witnessed it.

In 1992, Charity married Tim Masters, whom soon after adopted Beth. After separating they both built a life centered around love, with Beth always at its heart. Charity spent most of her life in Lincoln, Nebraska, and in March, she would have celebrated 27 years with the Department of Homeland Security. As a dedicated member of the USCIS/NSC team, she was a trusted resource, known for her expertise, passion, and unwavering support of her colleagues. Many of her coworkers became lifelong friends, forming a family that extended beyond the workplace.

Above all, Charity wanted to be remembered for the love she shared. She found her greatest joy in celebrating others and bringing happiness into their lives. She hoped that those who knew her felt the depth of her love and the positive impact she always sought to bring.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Beth (Alex) Buhr of Filley; parents, Kenneth and Janice Case grandchildren, Nolan and Emmit Buhr; siblings, Michelle Dixson of Bellevue, Kenneth (Jacki) Case Jr. of Omaha, Melissa (Jeff) Scaturro of Plattsmouth; nieces and nephews, Melissa (Brian) Hansen, Joshua Dixson, Kenneth (Jaime) Case III, Michael (Ashley) Scaturro, David Case and friend Staci, Ryan (Cyndi) Dixson, Andrea Scaturro, Emma (Collin) Rarig; and several great nieces and nephews.

Charity's memory will forever be a source of light and love to those who knew her. While our hearts ache in her absence, we will continue to celebrate her life in the way she would have wanted-with love, laughter, and kindness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Pickrell with Pastor Jerry Gilbreath officiating. Cremation will follow the service. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 a.m. on Monday at the church. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from noon until 8 p.m. The family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment of the cremains will be held at a later date.
