Darrell Oswald Obituary

Darrell Wayne Oswald

March 19, 1946 - September 15, 2025

Darrell Wayne Oswald, age 79, of Beatrice, Neb., passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on March 19, 1946, to Raymond and Lorraine (Edelman) Oswald, Darrell grew up with a strong Midwestern work ethic and a deep love for family and community. On March 30, 1964, he married the love of his life, Janis E. Brake, in Pipestone, Minn. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on faith, service, and devotion to their family and friends. Their marriage was a true partnership, filled with laughter, hard work, and shared purpose.

Darrell proudly dedicated over 40 plus years to the Union Pacific Railroad, where he was known for his reliability, skill, and integrity. His colleagues admired him as a man who took pride in a job well done and who was always willing to lend a hand. Darrell and Janis were active in their community, volunteering with Meals on Wheels for many years. Their kindness and service touched countless lives, reflecting their belief in giving back to others. When not working or volunteering, Darrell enjoyed the simple joys of life: cooking meals for his family, hunting, fishing, gardening, and cheering on his favorite football teams. His constant companion was his beloved dog, Scarlett, a spirited Havaton who brought him endless happiness and was always by his side with a wagging tail.

Darrell's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his children, Daryl (Kimberly), Bryan (Ronda), and Angela; his grandchildren, Mason, Regan, Connor, Dalton, Mariah, Deidrik, Gabi, and Kobi; and his great-grandchildren, Kahleo and Dionne. He also leaves behind his siblings, Brad Croucher, Guy Croucher, and Sharon Nagel, as well as many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Janis; his parents; his brother, Jerry Oswald, and his son, Bradley.

Darrell will be remembered for his warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love for his family. His laugh, his stories, and his steadfast presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating.
