Death

WYMORE - Donald F. Kier, 73, Wymore, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at BryanLGH Medical Center West in Lincoln. He was born June 19, 1929, on a farm east of Wymore where he spent his childhood, and was a 1947 graduate of Barneston High School. He married Norma Bernhardt on March 11, 1951, at Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice. They lived in Wymore for one year and then farmed east of Wymore until 1973, when they moved to a farm west of Wymore. He had been a seed dealer for over 40 years. He was a member of the Wymore United Methodist Church and had served on the church board. He also served on the Farmers Union Co-op Board of Directors at Blue Springs and was a member of the Wymore Country Club and served on its board of directors. He was a past member of Southern Public Schools Board of Education. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, bowling, playing cards, wintering at Mission, Texas, his cattle and especially his family's activities.

Survivors: wife, Norma; sons, Roger Kier and wife Debbie of Wymore, Jerry Kier of Blue Springs, Ron Kier and wife Gail of Wymore; grandchildren, Jeff Hill and fiancée, Lisa Petersen, Amy Parde and husband Eric, Jodi Wegner and husband Dustin, Angela Kier-Henrichs and husband Aaron, and Brian Kier; two great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Meyer and husband Vernon of Wymore; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Kier of Wymore, Clarice Lumsden and husband Hank of Norfolk; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard D. and Helen F. (Hirmon) Kier; brother, Bernard E. Kier; parents-in-law, Walter and Ruth Bernhardt; and a niece.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, Wymore United Methodist Church, 10th and F streets, Wymore, Pastor Larry Arganbright officiating. Burial: Blue Springs Cemetery. The body will lie in state at Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore after 7 p.m. Thursday until 9 p.m. Friday, and at the church one hour preceding the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Memorials to the church and the Wymore Rescue Unit with Elaine Champ in charge. Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, Wymore.
