Elbert Roane Obituary
EIbert Hearst Roane, Jr. died on September 26, 2025. He was born on December 24, 1934, to parents Elbert Hearst Roane and Greta Bradford Roane.
Hearst was a native Atlantan his entire life. He attended Highland Elementary School, Druid High School, Emory University, and Emory University School of Law.
During his full life, Hearst was a military fighter pilot, banker, lawyer, avid hiker, kayaker, generous bird feeder, amateur ornithologist, lover of all things in nature, and a friend to every dog he met.
Hearst is survived by his wife, Fran, his two sons, Hamp and Matt; his daughter-in-law, Tracy; his two grandchildren, Mitchell and Anna, his brother, David Roane, his sisters-in-law, Faye Roane and Judy Windham; and of course, by his dog, Teddy.
A celebration of Hearst's life will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at H.M. Patterson & Son – Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road N.E., Sandy Springs, Georgia. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM. A memorial service with military honors begins at 11:00 AM.
