Eugene E. "Gene" Bock
Eugene E. "Gene" Bock, was a beacon of strength, humbleness, and generosity, a dedicated family man, a friend to all, and a passionate advocate for agriculture education and horned Hereford cattle. Born on July 31, 1957, in Beatrice, Nebraska, Eugene was a man of deep integrity and humor. His dedication to his work and family was unmatched. His laughter was contagious; his patience, legacy, and love for his family and community, unparalleled.
Eugene was a man whose grit and savvy were matched only by his love for people, Hereford cattle, and conservation. A member of the Hereford Association, the Tallgrass Prairie Association, and the Natural Resources and Conservation Service, he was a champion of land conservation, reseeding native grasses, terracing farmland, developing water sources, and managing timber. Whether it was helping the SCC intern program, leading his kids' 4-H club, or serving on church and county boards, Eugene's leadership was diverse and plentiful. He was also a dedicated collector of 2-cylinder tractors and also loved checking cattle with his kids. His work as a realtor for Hayden Outdoors was a testament to his multi-dimensional personality and skillset.
Eugene was married to his beloved, Janet (Mitchell), on November 11, 1989. They were blessed with two children - Annie and Aaron.
Eugene is survived by his wife Janet, his daughter Annie Boesiger and son-in-law Tanner, and his son Aaron as well as his adored Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Reba. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanette Carney; twin sister, Verjean (Tom) Noojin; brother-in-law, Steve (Pam) Mitchell; nieces and nephews: Lucas (Dayna), Chrissy, Ben, Christopher, Daniel, Sarah (Nick), Preston (Ashton), and Paul (Brittany); and a host of extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Oscar Bock; mother, Vernetta Bock; brother-in-law, Paul Carney; and sister-in-law, Christy Mitchell.
