Death
Genevieve J. "Genny" (Crome) Pittman, 78, Beatrice, died Friday evening, March 28, 2003, at her residence. She was born on May 18, 1924, at Des Moines, Iowa. Along with her family, she moved to various communities and graduated from West Plains Missouri High School. She was married to Bill Crome in 1945 at Herkimer, Kan. They lived and farmed in the Virginia and Filley, Neb., areas before coming to Beatrice in 1956. She worked at the former Lutheran Hospital and at the Beatrice Community Hospital as a certified operating room technician for 37 years, retiring in 1986. She was the first person in Gage County to receive the certified operating room technician degree. She then managed the apartments at Parkview Village in Beatrice. She married Gell L. Pittman in 1961 at Adams, and they lived in Pickrell until 1981 when she moved to Beatrice. She attended the Wymore Church of Christ, and enjoyed crocheting, hand work and gardening.
Survivors: sons, Gell "Skip" Pittman Jr. of Torrington, Wyo., Bill Crome and wife Dianna of Bullhead City, Ariz., Gary Pittman and wife Roni of North Platte, Earl Crome and wife Donna of Bullhead City, Ariz.; daughters, Marilyn Pittman of Omaha, Patsy Frerichs and husband Steven of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Sharon Williams and husband Rusty of Kingman, Kan., Beverly Clapper and husband Sonny of Pickrell, and Gail Dotson of North Platte; 33 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eileen Malone of Rolla, Mo., and Nadine Stark of Houston, Mo.; niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Thelma (Densmore) Sward; her husband, Gell (Oct. 19, 1981); a daughter, Gloria Pittman.
Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, Fox Funeral Home, Beatrice, the Rev. Cindy Karges officiating. Burial: Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Pickrell. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with the funeral home in charge. The body will lie in state at the funeral home until the time of the service on Wednesday.
