Marvin Zimmerman
April 27, 1940 - November 7, 2025
Marvin Lee Zimmerman, 85, of rural Plymouth passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025 in Lincoln, Neb. Born to Ally and Florence (Felderman) Zimmerman on April 27, 1940, in Beatrice, Neb., Marvin was a faithful and humble man who served his family and community with unwavering loyalty. He was a 1957 graduate of DeWitt High School and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and later served in the Air National Guard.
Marvin's love for family was second to none. He married Lois Helmrichs on September 26, 1970 and was a proud father to Julie Zimmerman (Jason) Hippen, Cindy Zimmerman (Matthew) Jaynes and Chad (Rachel) Zimmerman and his beloved grandchildren John, Jacob, and Josie Hippen, Grant and Beau Jaynes, and Luke, Ivan, Levi, Kathleen, Ella, and Jack Zimmerman. In addition, he is survived by his sisters-in-law Mary Jane Zimmerman and Judy Lillie. Marvin was predeceased by his parents Ally and Florence (Felderman) Zimmerman; his brother Dean Zimmerman; brother-in-law Bill Lillie; and by several Jaynes grandchildren.
Marvin was a farmer through-and-through, and was proud to teach his kids a strong work ethic and love for the land. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in DeWitt, where he was a long-time high school Sunday school teacher and served on the church council. Marvin was a 4-H Leader and served on the Farmers Co-operative Board of Directors. He helped create the Tri County Legion Baseball Organization and spent countless hours constructing the field. He took immense joy in attending family activities and traveling to Naples, Florida in the winter.
A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 2 to 8 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 209 North Quince Street, DeWitt, Neb., 68341. A family prayer service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 10:15 a.m., at the church with the funeral service following at 10:30 a.m., Burial will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery in DeWitt. A memorial has been established to the family's choice for future designation with the funeral home in charge.
