Mildred C. Coffendaffer
Mildred C. Coffendaffer, 93, of Wymore, passed away at the Beatrice Community Hospital Saturday morning, Jan. 23, 2016. She was born on Dec. 28, 1922 on a farm near Reynolds, to William and Cena (Kubert) Hruska. She attended school at District 94, graduated from Fairbury High School in 1939, and attended cosmetology school. Mildred and Walter C. Coffendaffer were married on June 23, 1946. She was a licensed beauty operator in Nebraska and California and was a beautician for over 50 years.
Mildred was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wymore and the Altar Society; Catholic Daughters of America; American Legion Auxiliary Post #25 in Wymore; Blue Valley Seniors; and former member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #6874 in California. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, crafts, and volunteering at the Wymore Library.
Survivors include children Patricia Gallagher of Hurricane, Utah, Deloris Holthaus of El Cajon, Calif., William Coffendaffer and wife Eileene of Wymore, Kenneth Coffendaffer and wife Terry of Kettle Falls, Wash., and Cena Moss and husband Richard of Meridian, Miss.; nine grandchildren, Ann Walker, Denise Hall, Dale Holthaus, Deborah Brooks, Aleece Coffendaffer, Bryce Coffendaffer, Colette Garrett, Joseph Moss, and Erica Heggie; eight great-grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Raegan, Colton, Sydney, Jacob, Sutton and Abigail; sister Genevieve Holtzen of Fairbury; and several nephews and nieces.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, William and Cena (Kubert) Hruska; husband Walter C. Coffendaffer (1987); grandson Kenneth Coffendaffer; and sisters Marjorie Hickox and Maxine Foy.
Mass of Christian Burial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wymore with Father Ferdinand Boehme and Father Dennis Hotovy officiating. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The body will lie in state Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore with the family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m., and not at the church.
