Robert M. Huggenberger, 51, Lincoln, formerly of Emerson, died October 18, 2017, after suffering a series of strokes. Bob was an organ donor. He was born to Jim and Patricia (Hedrick) Huggenberger in Pender, Nebraska, on September 29, 1966. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Emerson, and graduated from Emerson-Hubbard High School and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He and his wife, Mary, were married August 5, 1989, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beatrice, and began their married life in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They have made Lincoln their home since 1991, along with their son, William, who joined the family by adoption on July 4, 2003. Bob, Mary, and Will are members of St. Teresa Catholic Church.
Bob made many friends through working at a variety of jobs over the years, including Little King's, AlphaGraphics, Sandhills Publishing, St. Teresa Church, and DeeBee Productions. He worked since 2006 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a learning spaces support associate for Information Technology Services, where he installed and maintained audio visual and computer equipment in nearly every campus building. He was a familiar face to faculty and students, answering classroom assistance calls and biking across campus.
Bob's whole life was filled with mischief and shenanigans, but at his core was kindness. This explains why everyone he met knows a story about something he did, or something he got them to do. Bob embraced adventure and took many of us along for the ride. He enjoyed his family and friends, annual motorcycle trips with his brothers, science fiction and superhero movies, coaching Will's baseball and basketball teams, golfing with friends, competing in City-Rec and church volleyball and basketball leagues, and following the Huskers.
Bob was preceded in death by: mother, Patricia Huggenberger; paternal grandparents, Sam and Edna Huggenberger; maternal grandparents, Ralph Hedrick and Marjorie and Walt Hemmingsen; aunt, Jean Huggenberger; uncles, William VanLent and William and Robert Hedrick; and niece, Sarah Jones.
