Ruth Poppe Obituary

Ruth Eileen Poppe

December 16, 1930 - March 17, 2025

Ruth Eileen Lovitt Poppe, 94, of Beatrice, Neb., passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, in Lincoln, Neb. Born on December 16, 1930 in Crab Orchard, Neb., to Roe and Louise Lovitt, Ruth lived her life in Nebraska, dedicating herself to her family and community.

Ruth was known for her warm heart and generous spirit. She taught as a schoolteacher in a country school before becoming a loving wife and mother. She was an Activities Director and then a Social Worker at Blue Valley Development Home and Nursing Home for over 20 years.

She was an active member of the Lutheran church and a member of several organizations within the church. Ruth is remembered as a lover of music, playing both the organ and piano; an avid gardener, always having a strawberry patch; and an enthusiastic Huskers fan, never missing a broadcast; but most importantly as a woman of faith and family.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LaVern; her brother, Richard Lovitt; and her son, Robert. She is survived by her children, Terry, Richard, Scott, and Lisa; her 10 grandchildren; and her 11 great-grandchildren. Ruth's memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of compassion and service will continue to inspire those whose lives she's touched.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date in order for family and friends to gather, to celebrate Ruth's remarkable life, and to bid her a heartfelt farewell.
