Sharon Kay Hofeling, born on May 25, 1946, in Gage County, Neb., passed away on September 26, 2025. A compassionate and generous woman who dedicated her life to the service of others, Sharon lived in Wymore, Neb., where she was a beloved member of the community. She spent her professional life in healthcare, first as a dietician at Beatrice Community Hospital and then as a caregiver at Beatrice State Development Center. Even in retirement, she continued to serve others, helping with tasks such as laundry, grocery shopping, and house cleaning. Her dedication to her family and her community exemplified the words of Albert Schweitzer, "The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others."

Sharon was a woman of many interests, which included reading, cross-stitch, crossword puzzles, and spending time outdoors with her gardening. She was an example of strength, having faced life's challenges with grace and a positive attitude. Sharon is survived by her daughter, Valerie Meints and husband, Todd of Sturgis, S.D.; grandsons, Tyler Meints and wife, Stacia of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Clayton Meints of Sturgis, S.D.; niece, Kathy (Mark) Evans; great niece, Kayla Evans; cousin, Larry Behrens and his family; special caregivers, Dawn Lautenschlager and Shaylee Siefker; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Hazel Belle (Weyer) Scheideler; son, Darryl Hofeling; siblings, Carol (Vince) Lempka, Claire Scheideler, and John Scheideler; and nephew, David Lempka.

A memorial service will be held on October 7, 2025, at 2 p.m., at Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore with burial of ashes following at the Wymore Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home on October 6, 2025, from 1 to 8 p.m., with the family greeting relatives and friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Foundation with the funeral home in charge.
