Thomas Greiner

1953 - 2025

Thom, age 72, of Glenwood, MN, born May 24, 1953, passed away on Saturday October 25 at the Glenwood Retirement Village from a battle with cancer. He was a long-time resident of the Glenwood area moving here in 1990 with his family from Beatrice, NE.

He married Lenona (Noni) Greiner on November 22, 1985. They had 3 children: Heather (Russ) Cross of Plymouth, NE, David (Jess) Greiner of Garfield, MN, and Jason (Amber) Greiner of Farmington, MN. He grew up in Bellevue, NE, and was the son of August and Betty Greiner. He had two sisters, Traci Sollenbach of Wahoo, NE, and Janet (Steve) Johnson of the Bellevue, NE area.

Thom had six grandchildren, Macey Waltke, Bailey Waltke, Ericka (Draven) Dugal, Emalie Greiner, Ethan Greiner, Elinor Greiner; and 2 great granddaughters Saniah and Aleena Waltke. He was preceded in death by his mother and father August and Betty Greiner and his son David Greiner.

He loved watching Nebraska Cornhusker's football and played football for the University of Nebraska in 1972. He owned and operated a hardware store in Brooten, MN, and volunteered on the Pope County Sheriff's Posse for many years. He had retired from the Douglas County Sheriff's department, Alexandria, MN, after 17 years. He built and repaired computers for many years, but his greatest love was Drag Racing.

Whether it was working on his cars, working at the racetrack, or racing his '67 Ford Mustang, this was his passion. Thom had the gift of being able to talk to anyone. In fact, if you let him, he could talk your ear off, especially when it comes to racing. He was a big friendly guy and will be missed. There will be no funeral or memorial services per his request.
