Bruce Blessing Obituary

Bruce LeRoy Blessing went to be with his lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He left this world on January 3, 2022 after a short stay at Harbour Hospice in Jasper, Tx.

Bruce was born Jan 7, 1948, on Wheeler Air Force Base in Wahiawa, Hawaii to Lt. Col. Samuel E. Blessing and Elizabeth (Betty) L. Blessing.

In his younger years, Bruce lettered in football and wrestled for Groveton High School (class of '66) in Arlington, VA. Later, he became involved in a serious body building that led him competing twice for the title of Mr. Arkansas.

He was an excellent, totally self-taught guitar player and played several venues during time in Costa Rica- (you hum it- he'll eventually play it)

Bruce and his wife Lynn were dedicated scuba divers who spent fun holidays diving much of the Caribbean. He loved living on or near the ocean, resulting in living and boating on Dauphin Island, Al. After 13 years there, he and Lynn moved to beautiful North Wilkesboro, N.C. and made friends in their seven years there.

Retirement beckoned and after a visit to Costa Rica, they chose to retire there, making once again, lifelong friends. After 6 years there, longing to be nearer to family, they bought a 100-year-old farm house in Colmesneil, TX and began restoring it. they joined church there and once again made many new friends.

Sadly his life ended unexpectedly in Harbor Hospice in Jasper, TX. Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Clawson Blessing, his son Brett (Tracy) of Springdale, AR and daughter Jennifer Rizzo (Steven) of Rosenberg Long Island, NY. Surviving him also 5 grandchildren: Chase and Chloe Blessing and Steven, Ella and Nicholas Rizzo, a sister Barbara Blessing of Whitestone, TX and sister Carol Chilton.

On a very personal note, Bruce accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was pleased to let people know.

When Bruce left for a job, everyone who employed him considered him a dear and personal friend. If you met Bruce, you loved him. He had the absolute best personality, and he was so endearing. He literally "never met a stranger"!

Bruce was the owner of Blessing Sandblasting and Painting from 1987 to 2012. After "unretiring" (can't keep a good man down) he owned BLBLESS, LLC from 2019 to 2022 and now he's still busy, worshiping and adoring the Lord in a new and better place, his original home, Heaven.

Rest in peace, sweetest guy ever. We miss you, but we'll see you again soon.

Thank you Dr. Joe Bill Holland and Dr. Scott McKenney for your loving and caring hearts concerning Bruce's situation. Bruce was cremated and his soul has moved on. A memorial will be declared at a later date.

What an active life Bruce lead. I was Bruce's teammate on the Groveton Wrestling Team. He was a special person and thought highly by all of the team members.
