Cody Vaughn Obituary

Cody Joseph Vaughn was born in Woodville, Texas, August 18, 1980. God must have needed a good fishing guide, because he called him home June 6, 2010. He is survived by a family now remembering his fishing stories with great fondness. This family includes his dad and stepmom, Hugh & Cindy Vaughn of Kingsland, Texas, and his mother and stepfather, Jennie & Gail McCulloch of Comfort, Texas. Also missing him are his sister, Wendi Stampley and family of Lumberton; brother, Carson Vaughn and family of Austin, and stepsisters, Jami Castillo and family of College Station, and Laura McKissack of Austin, and the special woman in his life, Cristi Pickering and her son, Clayson, of Beaumont. A multitude of other family members and friends are remembering his energy and vibrant soul with heavy hearts. He will be missed by all who loved him. Visitation will be at Cody's home church, Cathedral in the Pines Chapel in Beaumont from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Friday, June 11; a service will be held at the same location Saturday morning at 11:00; then friends and family are invited to gather at the home of Bubba & Laurie Ainsworth in Lumberton. Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves.

My friend it's hard to believe it's been 10 years since you were called home. Today I will reflect on our friendship, your infectious smile and laugh. You were a good man. I loved how you would greet me. You'd scoop me up and swing me around throwing your head back in laughter. I will never forget that.

Cast a line in the heavens. I know you're smiling down on all of us that loved you. My heart is heavy today. RIP my friend. RIP

I am devastated to hear of the tragedy of Cody's terrible accident. Having known Carson and Cody since their earliest childhood in Woodville, I can picture the fun times they had with my sons, Damon and Dustin. Always together, I have so many memories of the boys, and it is deeply painful to know they will not meet again. Cody had a wonderful way about him, that we loved the many times we were together. To Blow and Jennie, my heartfelt grief is with you during this most difficult time, and I love you. anne

I grew up with Cody in Woodville, running around in the streets and woods of east Texas. Cody's charm and character were unmatched! The good times we all had together will forever remain a memory of my childhood.
I vividly recall a family trip to the bahamas roaming around in the mangroves, and watching the tides come in while we tried to catch hermit crabs. There were also the many days spent playing around the texas Rocker shop in Woodville. I can still smell the fresh cut timber. God bless you and your family Cody. You are always with us.

Cody, Your friendship was always grand! You had a big heart and a kind spirit. I know you lived life to the fullest thou your time on earth was short, but you made an impression on many. We'll miss not knowing your walking in this world but knowing your running in the other.

God speed my friend!

I was friends with Cody in high school and I am so sad to hear of this tragedy. I remember going to San Antonio and visiting him and Tina and going to his dad's store at the mall. I think that was the last time I saw him. We always had fun together, he was such a sweet and kind hearted guy. Life had us drift apart but I heard he was going to Cathedral and was so happy to hear that. I pray for peace and comfort to carry all of his close family and friends through this difficult time.

Cody, I guess the only comfort I have is that you are in a better place. I know you are smiling over us with that beautiful smile. I can see you and Shaun and Grandma and Clay together in heaven, laughing, maybe fishing, but certainly telling big stories! What you did for the people you loved was phenomenal. You always seemed to know what advice they needed to hear.

I love you! Aunt Debra

As I was looking through the photos of Cody from birth to recent I realized that going back to early childhood, through the stages of his life, he always had that same BIG LAUGHING SMILE on his face, and many times a fish in his hands. By the time we get to Heaven Cody will have caught all the fish. Cody was loved by everyone he touched. Words cannot express the loss.

I love you Code Man! Aunt Stephanie
