Derrell Parker Obituary

Derrell Bubba Parker, 53, of Jasper, died on May 6, 2012, at the Houston Hospice Facility in Houston, TX. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Jasper. Visitation will be 5:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper. A native of Kirbyville, TX and former resident of Houston, TX, Bubba was a 1976 graduate of Waltrip High School in Houston and a 1980 graduate of Sam Houston State University. He lived in Houston and Roganville as a child. After graduation, he returned to Roganville, where he married his wife on July 26, 1986, Dorothy Allen Parker. Making their home in Jasper, he worked for the Elevator Union (IUEC #31) for ten years and has worked for Med West Vaco for the past 22 years. Bubba is survived by his wife of over 25 years, Dorothy Allen Parker of Jasper, TX; two sons, Beau Parker and Ty Parker, both of Jasper, TX; mother, Shirley Parker of Roganville, TX; brother, Roy Parker and wife, Laura of Jasper, TX; two sisters, Dee Ann Rister and husband, Randy of Rio Hondo, TX and Sonya Thames and husband, Jim of Mauriceville, TX; mother-in-law, Shirley Allen of Jasper, TX; sister-in-law, Betty Allen of Jasper, TX; aunt, Barbara and husband, Bobby Jay Smith of Roganville, TX; aunt, Bobbie Beaver Sheffield of Kirbyville, TX; nieces and nephews, Shannon, Crystal, Jessie, Josey, Daniel, and Abby; great-niece, Brittany and great-nephew, Tayson. He is preceded in death by his father, DW Parker. Memorials may be made to Border South Christian Ministries, PO Box 445, Rio Hondo, TX 78583.
