Dolores Szymanski Obituary

Dolores Leona Szymanski, 90 beloved wife and mother, peacefully passed away at home, March 18, 2022, in League City, Texas. Born in Detroit Michigan on November 5 ,1931. Dolores grew up in the Detroit area and was a devout Catholic for many years. She met Raymond, the love of her life, when they sang in the choir at Our Lady Help of Christian church. They married on August 21, 1948, and lovingly supported each other for 62 years of wedded bliss. Together they raised a family of 8 children and numerous pets, living in Michigan, Wichita, Kansas, Titusville, Florida and finally residing in League City, Texas since 1973.

Her family was her first priority. She also participated in various women's groups within the Catholic church: including Mary Magdalene in Wichita, Ks and Holy Spirit, in Titusville FL she was a great example of how to live a Christian life. Former member of the Beta Sigma Phi international sorority.

Dolores was a woman of many talents, in fact she was extremely creative at an early age, where she worked at her aunt's floral shop, as well as in a millinery shop. Her sewing skills were on the professional level. She created her own wedding dress and over the years sewed many prom dresses, curtains, coats and costumes. Throughout her life she continued her love of crafts dabbling in cake decoration, wedding planning and home decor. She was an excellent cook and all were welcome at her table. In her spare time she always had a crossword puzzle in ink in progress or an open book that she just finished.

After her youngest child was of school age she took a job at the CCISD Transportation Department as a lead bus driver, retiring in 1991 after 14 years of service.

Preceded in death by her parents Laurence and Josephine Leniczek, her loving husband Raymond Leon Szymanski, her sons Patrick Joseph Szymanski, Raymond Leon Szymanski ll, and Donald William Szymanski.

Survived by daughter Sheryl and husband Howard Matteson, their children Katrina and husband Jeremy Barnhart (Logan Ricketts, Kayleigh, Vera and Brayden), Sabrina and husband Patrick Dean, Travis Matteson, Krystina and husband Casey Mannell,(Ryland and Madyson). Daughter Elizabeth Coker and children Keven and wife Brittany (Shylah), Katherine and husband Kyle Rhodes (Reese and Tucker), Steven and wife Natalia: Son Christopher Szymanski and wife Deidra and son Keith; Son Andrew and wife Sharon Szymanski and their children Matthew and Lauren; Son Brian Szymanski; Daughter April Underwood and sons Brandon and Colin Burden; Daughter in law Elizabeth Szymanski and children Ashley and her husband Scott Day (Timothy), Haley and Joshua and brother Laurence Leniczek and wife Louise.

The family would like to thank our brother Brian for his tender loving care during the past five years.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday March 30 2022 from 5 to 7 pm With a ceremony at 7 o'clock at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573

Interment will follow on Thursday at 11 am at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038,
