Dorothy Ann (Dottie) James, 86, of Fannett, Texas, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 30, 2014. She was born on February 24, 1928, to Francis Luczak and Harry Carpol in Los Angeles, California, and had been a long time resident of the Beaumont area. Dottie was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She met and married the love of her life, Ernest James, there shortly after World War II. They moved to Beaumont, Texas, a few years later to raise their young family. She was a dedicated wife and mother who lived for her husband and family. Dottie admittedly loved to work. She told the story of how at age 14, she lied about her age and landed her first job as a clerk in a department store in Los Angeles. She always worked in the various family businesses, Cheek Drive In, Tyrrell Park Drive In and Green Acres Grocery in Fannett. In her later years she worked at PRN Medical Services in the billing department and retired shortly after her 80th birthday. She was quick witted and sharp and lived life to the fullest. Dottie was always busy with a project, often crocheting little things for loved ones. She could crochet just about anywhere, and was often observed crocheting in the stands at a game watching the grandchildren play sports. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was blessed to see most of them almost every day. Her loving kind ways earned her the title of Mom or Grandma to many who will miss her dearly. Survivors include her husband, Ernest James; son, Bobby James and his wife, Suzy; and daughter, Donna Heironimus and her husband, Steve, all of Fannett; grandchildren, Dyann Carney of Fannett; Amy Storer and her husband, Tony, of Montgomery; Melissa Story and her husband, Mike, of Mauriceville; Brent Heironimus of Houston; Cody Heironimus his wife, Amanda, of Fannett; Todd James of Fannett; and Rachel Burke and her husband, Dan, of Sour Lake; and great-grandchildren, Julie James, Lucas and Caleb Head, Isabella Burke, and Nancy Langham. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and daughter, Nancy Carney. A celebration of life for Mrs. James will be 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Grace Community Baptist Church, 22044 Burrell Wingate Road, Fannett, under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
