John Guy Obituary

John T. Guy, passed away on May 13, 2008 at his home with his family. He was born on October 4, 1929 in Cheneyville, LA. He was 78 years old. He moved to Port Arthur, Texas in 1940 and attended Woodrow Wilson, Jr. High and Thomas Jefferson High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 to 1950. He retired from Texaco, Inc. and was also the owner and operator of John Guy Insurance Agency. John was a member of AFCIO Local 4-23 and served as past president and past secretary/ treasurer. He served for many years as Deacon of Procter Street Church of Christ and Park Central Church of Christ. He was also an avid golfer for many years. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Minister Adair Chapman of Dallas will be officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be: Charles Reed, Jim Snell, Chuch Reed, Danny Mallet, Cecil Bourgeois and Scott Stevenson. John is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years; Elaine Bertrand Guy, son; Gregory Todd Guy and wife, Cassie, of Port Arthur, daughter; Kelly Ann Guy of Carrollton, TX., granddaughters; Hannah Elizabeth Guy and Rebecca Anne Guy of Port Arthur and Kayley Danielle Guy of Carrollton, TX., sisters; Gladys Ferguson of Houston, TX., and many loving nieces, nephews and a host of special friends. A special thank you to Dr. Robert L. Bowling for the wonderful care and support given to John and his family over the years and to Harbor House Hospice for their excellent care.
