John Lewis Obituary

. John D. Lewis, Jr., 70, of Kountze died Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth. He was born February 9, 1941, in Kountze to John D. and Mary Louise (Colmon) Lewis, Sr. A lifelong resident of Kountze, he retired from Valspar Corporation in Beaumont in the maintenance department and was also co-owner of Dixie's Bake Shop. Always active in Boy Scouts, he achieved ranking of Eagle Scout, was a member of the Order of The Arrow, and a longtime leader of Royal Rangers. John was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Kountze. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Dixie Lewis of Kountze; son, Donald Lewis, Sr. and his wife, Crystal of Kountze; and grandsons, Kirk Lewis and his wife, Devin of Magnolia and Donald Lewis, Jr. and his fiancé, Nature of Kountze. He is preceded in death by his parents; and grandmother, Laura Mae Colmon Jordan. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Broussard's, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze with Reverend Leon Bayless, Reverend Talmadge Stanley, and Reverend Ronnie Morrow officiating. Burial will follow at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, February 25, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Broussard's. Memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to First Assembly of God, P.
