John Murdock Obituary

1917 - 2016 Fort Worth -- Dr. John Ellis Murdock Sr., Dr. J.E, 99, passed to his heavenly reward on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, in his home in Fort Worth. The family said, Daddy was smiling, prayerful, and peaceful the entire night before. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the main sanctuary of The Wisdom Center, 4051 Denton Hwy., Fort Worth, 76117. Memorials: May be delivered to The Wisdom Center and gifts in lieu of flowers will be received at the mailing address or by phone at 817-509-1385. Dr. J.E. Murdock was born Jan. 10, 1917, in Grapeland, son of Ira Taylor Murdock and Clarice Skidmore Murdock. There he attended school, was actively involved in sports, and later married Willie Dunham Murdock on May 26, 1934. Dr. J.E. was known around southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas for his passion for prayer . . . and founder of seven new churches. He was president/founder of the Highways and Hedges, Inc. He pastored numerous churches and authored nine books and was a composer of songs. He received national recognition for his remarkable poetry. He raised seven children, led many to Christ, but was best known for his understanding of prayer. He was the beloved patriarch father of The Wisdom Center of Fort Worth, a global outreach ministry into over 200 nations. The Murdock family extends deep gratitude to the caregivers who served Dr. J.E. and appreciates the outpouring of love from The Wisdom Center church family, and many partners throughout the world. He was preceded in death by his precious wife, Willie Dunham Murdock; daughter, Barbara Ann Murdock Eidson; brothers; and sisters. Survivors: Children, John Jr. and wife, Gloria Murdock of Orange, Mike Murdock of Fort Worth, Flo Warriner and husband, Lee, of Cortland, Neb., Deborah Faith Johnson and husband, Robert, KayDonna Ruth Murdock of Leesville, La., David E. I was privileged to get to escort "Daddy" around the Wisdom Center 2004-2005. I had a great respect for this precious man of God. He was a prayer warrior.

Awe! He was a precious sweet man! I met him in 1993 and he was so gracious and humble. I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank God for the Blessed hope, we will see him again. He left such a legacy for his family. God comfort all of you I pray.
