Larry Lanclos Obituary

Larry Lee Jude Lanclos, 75, of Montgomery, Texas, peacefully passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021, under the care of St. Luke's Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

Larry will be lovingly remembered by his adoring wife of 45 years, JoAnn and his sons Matthew (Christina) and Bryan (Courtney). Larry will also be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren, Emma, Jake, Sage, Chance, and Brooklyn.

Larry was born on May 11, 1945 in Houston, Texas to Paul Rufus and Vercy (La Fleur) Lanclos. Growing up, Larry enjoyed playing Little League baseball and was most proud of achieving the highest Boy Scout honor of Eagle Scout.

Larry attended Houston schools, graduating from Westbury Highschool in 1964. After high school, Larry worked for Shell Oil Company as a Data Entry Clerk. He later joined Western Geophysical Company as Navigator and Engineer. His work with Geophysical took him all over the world, visiting many countries. Larry eventually became employed by UPS as a Shop Steward and Master Diesel Mechanic, retiring in the late 1980's.

After Aunt Bernadette and Uncle Edwin introduced Larry to JoAnn (nee Janik), they quickly fell in love and were married shortly after, on April 5, 1975 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. They resided in the Aldine area for many years, where they raised their sons, Matthew and Bryan. After retiring, Larry and JoAnn built their dream home in Montgomery, Texas, enjoying their time together making happy memories.

Larry's passion and love of adventure was being on the open waters, enjoying the serenity and beauty of the sea and traveling the world. He loved boating and was an avid fisherman and extended his life's experiences to his beloved sons. Larry never met a stranger and could tell the most vivid and embellished stories and could always captivate an audience. Larry was always willing to lend a hand whether it was helping bait a hook, recommending the perfect reel or bait or to share his knowledge of auto repair. Larry's bright light, infectious laugh and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Also mourning the loss of Larry, are his loving and cherished sisters; Marie Bledsoe and Justine Lanclos, brother- in- law John Schwarzbach, mother- in- law, Marie Janik, sister- in- laws; Janette (Gene) Yanchak and Carol (Don) Thompson, as well a host of his beloved nieces and nephews and other family members. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Rufus and Vercy (La Fleur) Lanclos, stepmother, Leota Lanclos and sister, Pauline Gail Schwarzbach, brother- in- laws; Gordon Lee Bledsoe and Charles "Buddy" Truitt and father- in- law, Steve Janik.
