Marjorie Reed Obituary
My chains are gone, I've been set free. My God, my Savior has ransomed me. And like a flood, His mercy reigns Unending love, Amazing Grace. Marjorie Leanna Parker Reed passed away Monday, October 6, at the age of 92 years. She was born July 11, 1916 in Merryville, Louisiana to the late Matilda Jane Prewitt and James Henry Parker. She was reared with six siblings near Elizabeth, Louisiana and moved to Buna, Texas in 1955. Mrs. Reed had many hobbies and skills that she enjoyed, including oil painting, sewing, tatting, crocheting and quilting. For years she lovingly sewed for family and friends in the Buna area. Her many oil paintings grace the walls of loved ones and friends. Mrs. Reed gave her life to her Lord at the age of sixteen and was a member of First Baptist Church in Buna since 1955. Over the years, she was involved in the Women's Missionary Union, Vacation Bible School and Sunday School in various positions. Until 2003, she was the long standing teacher of the Mary Martha class for senior women at First Baptist. She will be sadly missed by all whose lives were blessed to be touched by her. Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her husband, Beulas G. Reed; son, Charles Billy Reed; parents; brothers, Frank Edward, Billy C., James Henry, Jr. and William Douglas (Peck) Parker; and sisters, Annie Matilda Smith and Lois Mae Peavy. Survivors include daughters, Betty Klutts of Buna and Nita Welch of Sugartown, LA; daughter- in-law, Janice Reed of Winnsboro, LA; grandchildren, Dr. Charles Reed of Winnsboro, LA, Charlotte Smith of Mittie, LA, Joe Klutts of Rosenburg, TX, Barbara Allison of Champaign, IL; Scott Welch of Vivian, LA and Connie Sanderlin of Haughton, LA.; sisters-in-law, Hazel Parker of Oakdale, LA and Ruth Parker of Pine Bluff, AR; thirteen great grandchildren; ten nephews and eleven nieces. Family will receive friends at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Buna from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 7, 2008. Her funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Buna with the Revs. Harry Klutts and Jeff Lowe officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Allison, Joe Klutts, Charles Reed, Jason Sanderlin, Joe Smith and Scott Welch. Honorary pallbearers are great- grandsons. Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery in Buna.
