Mary Debbs Obituary

Mary Ann Danna Debbs passed away peacefully on January 29, 2024, after a brief illness. Mary was born on January 14, 1930, in Beaumont, Texas to Mary (nee Liberto) and John Danna. After graduating from Beaumont High School, she married Theodore Debbs, Sr. to whom she remained happily married until his untimely death in September 1990. Mary and Theodore lived in Beaumont while raising their family of five.

Mary was an active member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, St. Jude's Catholic Church and St. Anthony's Catholic Cathedral Basilica. She served on the Altar Society of St. Michaels Orthodox Church until moving to the Houston area in 2015 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was active in several other parish organizations that received the benefit of her many excellent culinary and sewing talents.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, John, her son, Michael, and her granddaughter, Angelina. She is survived by her children, Cindy & Kenneth Hurta (Houston), Theodore Debbs & Sheilah O'Heaney (Rusk), Gary Debbs (Beaumont), and David & Anna Debbs (Spring), her aunt, Clara Jo Liberto (Beaumont), and her sister, Barbara LeBlanc (Conroe). Mary is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in Beaumont at a future date after Mrs. Debbs is interred beside her husband in the Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations made in her honor be to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
