Paul Watts Obituary

Paul Watts, Jr., 84, of Port Acres, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Cypress Glen Nursing Home in Port Arthur. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2012, at Melancon's Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jeff Bell officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. Mr. Watts was born June 16, 1928, in Port Arthur to the late Paul Watts, Sr. and to Gladys Alloway Watts. He married Joan McCreary in Lake Charles, LA in 1970. Paul served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean Conflict and was a lifelong resident of the Golden Triangle area. He was retired from Gulf Oil in Port Arthur and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Port Acres. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul A. Watts, Sr. and Gladys Mary Alloway Watts; daughters, Brenda Watts, and Melinda Hebert. He is survived by his wife, Joan Watts of Port Acres; children, Paul Watts, III and wife, Karen of Groves, Larry Dowden and wife, Laverne of Cedar Park, Randy Dowden and wife, Mitzi of Spring, Tara Cureton of Port Acres, Debra Roberts and husband, Jerry of Vidor, and Charles Anderson and wife, Toni of Lawrenceville, GA; fifteen grandchildren, and eight great-grand- children; sisters, Marie Monroe of Grand Junction, CO, Helen Ritch of Albuquerque, NM, Gladys West of Nederland, Patricia Arminter of Port Arthur; and brothers, Gary Watts of Bridge City and James Goodridge, II of Groves. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 2208 Canal St, Port Acres, TX. The family would like to thank SETX Hospice for the care they provided to their loved one.
