Ronald Getz Obituary

Funeral services for Ronald Guy Getz, Sr., 69, of Spurger will be 2:00 pm Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following in Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Getz died June 9, 2010 at his residence. A native of Allentown, PA, Mr. Getz was a long time resident of Spurger. He was a retired Master Test Technician and graduated at the top of his class at Williamson Trade School. Mr. Getz was an Eagle Scout, Explorer Scout and a member of Order of the Arrow in Allentown, PA. In 1957, he attended the National Jamboree in Valley Forge, PA. In the early 1960's, Ronald was a Community Commissioner for Three Rivers Council BSA in Beaumont. In the early 2000's, he became 'Pops' to the scouts of Troop 881 in Spurger, sharing his experiences and knowledge with the newest generation of Boy Scouts. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Abbie Smith Getz, sister Marion Getz, brother Robert Getz, wife Jacqueline Getz and granddaughter Valerie Faye Getz. Survivors include sons, Ronald Guy Getz Jr. of Spurger, Richard Graham Getz and wife Cynthia of Spurger and Mark Wayne Reddoch and wife Terri of Vidor; daughters, Ronda Getz Ard of Spurger, Marsha Paulette Solis of Spurger and Charlsye Ratcliff and Wallace Anderson III of Texas City; eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

This wonderful man will be dearly missed. I have been truly blessed to have had him and my Nanna for the past thirty years. May they both no longer suffer but be at peace. I love you Poppy.
