Sadie Cansler Obituary

Sadie Cansler died October 29, 2010, at the Arboretum in Winnie. Born March 9, 1926, in Assumption Parish, Louisiana, she was one of 10 children of Charles Allen Patureau, Sr. and Annette Landry Patureau. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Charles Allen Patureau, Jr., Elmo Leobon Patureau, and Edward Patureau; her sisters: Lydia Meekins, Lenora Erwin, Nettie Peterson, and Anne Fontenot; and her husband, Jack Weldon Cansler, Sr. She is survived by her three children: Linda Cheryl Cansler of Beaumont, TX, Jack Weldon Cansler, Jr. of Hartford, Conn., and Charles Thomas Tom Cansler of Austin, TX; her eight grandchildren: Samy Kamel Soliman of Beaumont, TX, Hany Kamel Soliman and wife Ling Hong Cai of Missouri City, TX, Nagy Kamel Soliman and wife Sarah of Cedar Park, TX, Jack Weldon Trey Cansler, III of Austin, TX, Heather Renee Cansler of Seattle, WA, Jacqueline Elizabeth Mathias and husband Steve of Luxembourg, Rachael Angelica Cansler of Austin, TX, and James Weldon Cansler of Hartford, Conn; her seven great grandchildren: Mikayla Sowder of Seattle WA , Roshdy Soliman of San Diego, CA, Adam Hany Soliman, , Sarah Ling Soliman, and Ryan Haney Soliman of Missouri City, TX, and Jimmy Mathias and Amy Mathias of Luxembourg; and her two brothers: Ned Patureau, and Donald Patureau. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Sadie loved beautiful things and she created beautiful things. She was an artist, and a gardener; she sewed, quilted, and taught oil painting from her home studio. She was active in the Minglewood Garden Club and Gold Coast Art League and other artist groups. She was loved by her family and appreciated as a good neighbor. Her Catholic faith was important to her, and she was always ready for a battle to right a wrong or help someone. A Christian Vigil will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Broussard's. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder, Beaumont followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. Lunch will be served after the burial at St. Anne Parish Hall. For those wishing to do so, memorial contributions may be made to the Melody Maid Foundation for the scholarship fund: The Melody Maid Foundation, c/o Sandra Burrell, 5386 Burrell Loop, Beaumont, TX 77705.
