Shirley Anne Weldon

1928 - 2023

Shirley Ann Weldon (Schuster/Eisiminger), 94, passed away on November 14, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born in Beloit, Wisconsin and later settled in Lubbock, Texas where she spent her final days.

Shirley was a beloved mother and is survived by her children, Joseph "Jody" Weldon of Mason, Texas, Jana A. Jones of Lubbock, Texas and John Mark Weldon of Simpsonville, South Carolina and Allen Dale Weldon of Louisville, Kentucky. She was blessed with multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Phillip Weldon, as well as her two daughters, Anne Marie Parker and Suzanna Carol Weldon, and her parents, William Schuster and Flora Schuster.

Shirley had a remarkable career as an Opera Star in Chicago, Illinois in the 1940s and 1950s. She later dedicated her voice to the Lord and served many years as a preacher's wife. She also worked for the Plainview ISD in Plainview, Texas until her retirement at age 71. Shirley's passion for music and serving the Lord with her voice touched the lives of many.

Shirley was a member of South Plains Baptist Church in South Plains, Texas. Her faith was an important aspect of her life, and she loved serving the Lord with her voice more than anything.

A memorial service to celebrate Shirley's life will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 3:00 pm at the Shallowater First Baptist Church Chapel in Shallowater, Texas. The compassionate team at Lake Ridge Chapel & Memorial Designers in Lubbock, Texas is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Shirley Ann Weldon will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy as a talented opera singer, faithful pastor's wife, church member, and dedicated educator will be cherished forever.
