There will be a Memorial Celebration of the life of Bill Gunn at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Grace Community Church, 1021 Campbell Road, Houston, Texas. Bill was born on Feb 02, 1930 in Beaumont, Texas to June and William Gunn. He had a brother, Sidney and sister, Emily. Bill graduated from South Park High School in 1947 and attended college at Texas A&M and Lamar College. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Gracie Haynes, in 1949, Bill transferred to The University of Houston, where he earned a BA degree in advertising. After graduation, Bill worked briefly for Magnolia Refinery in Beaumont before moving into his chosen profession. In 1957 Bill and his partner began publishing independent suburban telephone directories. Theirs was the first independent directory publishing company in Texas. During those years, Bill Gunn was well known and respected by his business associates, customer, and friends for his honesty and integrity. After publishing the Spring Branch Memorial, Houston Northwest, and Oak Forest Telephone Directories for over 30 years, Bill retired in 1988. Bill accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age and his relationship with God deepened through the years until he left this world and entered eternity. Bill Gunn was a husband who loved and cherished his wife and a father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren beyond measure. An avid outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman, Bill enjoyed a lifetime of family camping and fishing and hunting with his sons, grandson, and close friends. What a friend my family had in Bill Gunn. He loved us and we loved him right back. We know all about Heaven and Eternity and our Lord and Savior, Jesus, and now we know that Bill is there, he stepped to the other side. His absence from us, is his presence with God Almighty. So privileged and fortunate to have known him for about 25 years, he brought happiness to us, and was there when trouble hit our home, showing us kindness and giving a hand. We will miss you Bill Gunn, and we will tell Carter about his great granddad, what a wonderful man he was. You will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

What can I say about this great man? My former boss of many years, mentor and friend. So much love and respect and an infectious smile, I could go on and on.. but those who knew him know what I'm trying to say. I'm in shock right now. My heart goes out to his loving wife of 68 years, Gracie; sons, Bill, Mike and David, and all the family. I'm so sorry. My prayers are with you.

Rest in eternal peace, BBM.

I was blessed to know Bill, a man with a smile as big as Texas, and a heart to match, initially through my parents. This bond orchestrated by God would continue through his son, Bill III, Godly friendship with my brother, Rick. A friendship that would span over 40 years, until my brother was called to his eternal home.
Bill's love certainly continues through his beautiful wife, Gracie, all of his family & his many friends.
My prayers of love and comfort.
