Peggy D. Key

1934 - 2022

Peggy Dooley Key, 87 of Bedford, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022 at Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital with her granddaughter, Jess holding her hand.  She was born on Tuesday, July 17, 1934 in Bedford, a daughter of the late Hamid Newton Dooley and Doris Louise McManaway Dooley.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Granville Herbert "Buzzy" Key, her son, Jeffrey Wayne Key and her sister, Sandra Robertson. She retired from Bedford County Public Schools having been a cafeteria worker at Thaxton Elementary School for many years and was known for her homemade rolls.  She was a member of Peaks Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her sons, William Granville "Bill" Key & wife, Margaret, David Owen Key & wife, Laura; her daughter, JoAnne "Jody" Lineberry & husband, Rixey; her brother, Charles "Chuck" Dooley & wife, Cheri as well as ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and many other family members and friends. The family requests that those wishing to make memorials consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Per her wishes, services were private and were handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
