Samuel Diuguid Obituary

Samuel Lee Diuguid, Jr., 67 of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at Lynchburg General Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Roberta Holland â€"Diuguid for fifteen and a half years. Born Jan. 29, 1947 in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Samuel Lee Diuguid, Sr. and Beatrice Hamlet Diuguid. He was a graduate of Campbell County High School and attended Tree of Life Ministries. Sam was a history buff and loved anything pertaining to world events. He loved the History Channel and also loved to read. He was a tractor trailer driver for Walmart, a job that he loved. He was highly respected by his company and fellow employees. He was greatly loved by his family and friends. He was a special uncle and father figure to Nathanial Diuguid, MSgt Michael Diuguid and his niece Beatrice Bynum, all of whom he raised. In addition to his wife, Roberta, he is survived by two daughters, Sonya Holland of Forest and Jacqueline E. Holland of Atlanta, GA; one brother, James E. Diuguid, Lynchburg; three sisters, Bernadette D. Everett, Eula D. Stamps and Shelia A. Diuguid; an aunt Bertha Austin all of Lynchburg, VA. and numerous nieces and nephews and a special sister-in-law, Rhonda Bonds. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2050 Langhorne Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24501. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Tree of Life Ministries with Pastor Mike Dodson officiating. Burial will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
