Albert Roseboom Obituary

Albert Roseboom Sr.
Albert Earl "Buck" Roseboom Sr., 87, of Collinsville, Ill., born Sunday, Jan. 21, 1917, in Norris, Ill., died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at his residence.
Mr. Roseboom was a retired meat cutter and co-owner of Morris Hills Market, Collinsville, Ill. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the VFW Post 1117, in Caseyville, Ill., and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union AFL-CIO-CLC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lena, nee Wilson, Roseboom; two sisters, Grace Foster and Edith Eccles; and two brothers, Jesse and Robert Roseboom.
He is survived by his wife, Rose J., nee Amato, Roseboom of Collinsville, Ill., whom he married May 20, 1939; three daughters and a son, Alberta (Harry) Lang of Collinsville, Ill., Rosemary (Jack) Cook of Imperial, Mo., Albert (Patricia) Roseboom Jr. of Coral Springs, Fla., and Roberta Roseboom of Collinsville, Ill.; his grandchildren, Kathy (Brien) Bednara of Collinsville, Ill., Joseph (Kate) Lang of Irmo, S.C., Dean (Becky) Cook of St. Louis, Mo., Jackie (Doug) Kelley of Wisconsin, Autumn Cook of St. Louis, Mo., Ryan Roseboom of Coral Springs, Fla., Zachary Roseboom of Coral Springs, Fla., and Josh Roseboom of Coral Springs, Fla.; a brother, William (Garnett) Roseboom Jr. of Clinton, Ill.; three sisters, Dorothy Matkovic of Peoria, Ill., Mary Jane (Gayle) Peterson of Canton, Ill., and Wilma (Harold) Olson of Williamsfield, Ill.; six great-grandchildren, Mike, Nick, Abby, Jake, Sami and Ali; four sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, or to the American Lung Association.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill., with the Rev. Brian Pope officiating. Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill.

I grew up in Morris Hills ( 1942- 64). After getting off the school bus, I would always stop in the market for a soda or baseball cards. Buck and the boys would always talk and joke with the kids. They were a part of my childhood.
