Anna Kalert
Anna Marie Kalert, nee Bauer, 91, of Belleville, Ill., born Sept. 20, 1913, in Belleville, Ill., died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at Four Fountains Convalescent Center, Belleville, Ill.
In her early years, Mrs. Kalert was employed by Hurst Bakery, Freeburg, Ill. She later worked at Castle Haven Nursing Home and Four Fountains Convalescent Center for many years. She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., where she served as a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Sodality and the Quilting Club. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella Circle 329. Anna and her husband Clarence generously contributed their time and energy to the initial phases of planning and developing the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence F. Kalert, whom she married Sept. 11, 1935, and who died Jan. 14, 1976; her parents, Joseph C. and Ida G., nee Koesterer, Bauer; a sister, Eleanor (Frank) Becherer; a brother, Francis Bauer; a son-in-law, Joe Svec Sr.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She is survived by two sons, Clarence W. (Patricia) Kalert of Freeburg, Ill., and Charles (Debra) Kalert of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; seven daughters, Shirley (Harold) Weik of Lenzburg, Ill., Eileen Svec of Belleville, Ill., Rita (William) Pierce of Fairhope, Ala., Catherine (Don) Harris of Freeburg, Ill., Eleanore (Kenneth) Ahlers of Belleville, Ill., Martha Vogel of Belleville, Ill., and Evelyn (Edward) Mueth of Brighton, Ill.; a sister, Lucille Blanquart of Belleville, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Alice Bauer; 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made in the form of Masses or to the Meredith Home, to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, or to the American Diabetes Association.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2005, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill. A Prayer Service will be held at 4 p.m. followed by a Daughters of Isabella Ritual Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 11:10 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2005, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., for an 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., with the Rev. David Kalert, OMI, officiating. Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
