Beverly Helm

Beverly Ann Helm, of Swansea, Ill., died Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She was born August 22, 1952, in East St. Louis, to Walter and Dolores Helm who preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother, Charles (Patricia Ann) of Champaign, Ill., dear friend, Jen Barr, also of Swansea, many loving cousins, and the Barr Family who considered her one of their own. She will be remembered fondly by all.

Bev graduated from Belleville Area College and worked as a paraprofessional in Title I programs in the Cahokia School District from 1974 until her retirement in 2009. She spent many summers traveling to Minnesota, Yellowstone National Park, and Europe with her birth family and in later life particularly enjoyed geocaching, Disney vacations, Caribbean cruises, and Florida adventures as part of the Barr family. Bev was a lifelong animal lover and had a special fondness for Dachshunds, but lately, her greatest joy was spending time with her sunshine Bella.

Services: A Celebration of Bev's life will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Kurrus Funeral Home, 1773 Frank Scott Parkway West, Belleville, Ill.
