Belleville, Illinois - Carl C. Carson, age 84, of Belleville, IL, born on October 2, 1938, in TN, died on Friday, October 7, 2022, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL.
Carl was a faithful member of the Westview Baptist Church in Belleville for over 50 years. During that time, he was a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years and pitched for the men's softball team and served on various committees and projects. He worked as a laborer in the Belleville area and is best known as Douglas Elementary School's most beloved crossing guard where he served for over 20 years. In 2012, Carl was honored by the city of Belleville as a "Citizen of Character" for his outstanding service to children and youth. During his retirement, he continued to work with youth and enjoyed hobbies such as walking, bicycling, collecting baseball cards, coins, and old west memorabilia.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl C. and Sarah J., nee Gregory Carson Sr.; and his brother, William A. Carson.

A memorial reception for Carl will be held on Sunday, November 6, at Noon at the Westview Baptist Church, 2500 Sullivan Drive, Swansea, IL. Interment of cremated remains will be held on Monday, November 7, at 10am, in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
