Carl Robinson

Carl D. Robinson, 77, of Granite City, Ill., born Sept. 5, 1934, in Granite City, Ill., passed away at 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Granite Nursing and Rehabilitation in Granite City, Ill.

Mr. Robinson retired in 1974 from the Granite City Sheet Metal after 30 years of dedicated service. He later retired from McFarland Heating and Cooling in 1994. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local No. 268 in Caseyville, Ill., and a member of the Granite City Eagles Aerie No. 1126. He played Santa Claus for more than ten years throughout the community. Carl enjoyed his days of camping, hunting and fishing and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley A., nee Havron, Robinson, whom he married on Oct. 18, 1952, in Granite City, Ill., and who died on Dec. 10, 1984; parents, James H. and Sallie A., nee Moore, Robinson; two brothers, Walter and Kenneth Robinson; and three sisters, Catherine Lemm, Florence Finazzo and Pauline Robinson.

Surviving are two sons, James (Cindy) Robinson of Prairietown, Ill., and Gary Robinson of Troy, Ill.; five daughters, Margaret (James) Dycus of Mt. Vernon, Ill., Carla (James) Rushing of Granite City, Ill., Diana (Eddie) Glover of Canton, Ill., Pattie Robinson of Granite City, Ill., and Sallie (Ron) Minks of Woodlawn, Ill.; ten grandchildren, Patric (Shannon) Glover, Elizabeth (Ross) Bunton, Jennifer (John) Lewis, Jaime (Jeff) Klee, Brandon (Fable) Rushing, Sara Robinson, Brittany (Wade) Hurley, Bradley Robinson, Garrett Minks and Addison Minks; 12 great-grandchildren, Shelby, Brianna, Taylor, Benjamen, Jacob, Whitney, Samuel, Phoebe, Sylas, Wren, Amelia and baby girl, Lewis; three sisters, Imogene Ansley of California, Lora (Glen) Hollis of Granite City, Ill., and Marie Crawford of Granite City, Ill.; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.

Carl would appreciate bringing a smile to a child's life, memorials may be made to Hunt of a Lifetime Foundation and may be accepted at the funeral home.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2012, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill. An Eagles service will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral: Services in celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012, at the funeral home. with his son-in-law, James Dycus officiating. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery on Nameoki Road.
