Cahokia, Illinois - Caroleta Anne Simmons, nee Brooner, 72, of Cahokia, Illinois, born July 30, 1949 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, passed from this life into her eternal rest at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, Missouri on Friday, October 22, 2021, after a brief illness.
Caroletea was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence D. and Geneva V., nee O'Shield, Brooner; a daughter, Tammy LeAnn Simmons; and a great granddaughter, Madison Marie Huff.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, James T. Simmons of the home; two daughters, Glynna Renay (Sam) Eastwood of Whitehall, AR and Mary Alice Yarnell of Cahokia, IL; four grandchildren, Sarah Eastwood and Zachary (Faith) Eastwood of Whitehall, AR, Amanda Yarnell of Cahokia, IL, and Jordan (Bre) Yarnell of Caseyville, IL; a great granddaughter, Grace Eastwood and two great grandsons expected in November and December, which she was very excited for. and two brothers,Harrel (Carol) Brooner of Tahlequah, OK and Clyde (Dee) Brooner of Tulsa, OK. She was also a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Caroleta was a faithful member of Jerome Lane Baptist Church in Cahokia, IL where she served as the director of the WMU; a pre school teacher, and as church secretary.

Friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor James Simmons officiating. In following Caroleta's wishes a private cremation will take place,
