Swansea, Illinois - Charles Lawrence Wasem III, 71, of Swansea, IL, born Tuesday, October 23, 1951, in Belleville, IL, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at his residence in Swansea, IL.
Charlie was the owner of G & S Foundry in Red Bud, IL. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, scuba diving and flying his own plane.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Lawrence and Marian, nee Straubinger, Wasem Jr..
Surviving are his wife, Fonda R., nee Williams, Wasem of Swansea, IL; daughter, Katherine Wasem of St. Louis, MO; son, David (May Seto) Wasem of Oakland, CA; sister, Patricia Wasem of Belleville, IL; grandson, Cal Henry Wasem; step-children, Natalie Rodriguez of Swansea, IL and Nicholas (Kyla) Rodriguez of Swansea, IL; step grandchildren, Sienna Rodriguez, Pippa Rodriguez, Penelope Rodriguez and Page Rodriguez.

I am so sorry to see that Charlie has passed. My ex husband and dear friend, Randy "Rocko" Smith, worked for Charlie for years at G&S Foundry. He thought a lot of Charlie. He and his wife would cross my mind from time to time and I wondered where their lives took them after the foundry closed. Wonderfully nice people. Rocko had to take our daughter to their home when she was a newborn to show her off. Sadly, Rocko also passed away in 2020.
My deepest sympathy to his family. Prayers that comfort is found in the memories you have.
