Clarence Holtmann

Clarence C. Holtmann, 85, of New Baden, Ill., died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Aviston Countryside Manor in Aviston, Ill. He was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Lookingglass Township, Clinton County, Ill., son of George and Mary, nee Huene, Holtmann. He married Rose Isabelle Lampe on Sept. 20, 1955, in Aviston, Ill., and she preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 2013.

Mr. Holtmann was a farmer and a Korean War Army veteran. He was a member of St. Bernard Parish and the American Legion Post 1026 in Albers, Ill., and the Clinton County Farm Bureau.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Holtmann; a sister, Loretta Schwend; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill Spaeth, Cal Schwend, Ron Huegen, Alice Toennies, Pauline and John Wolters, Laverne Litteken, Anthony Lampe, Benedict Lampe, and Bernice and Eugene Von Hatten.

Surviving are his children, Jo Ann (Ed) Netemeyer, Daniel (Chris) Holtmann, Dennis (Cindy) Holtmann and Dale (Kim) Holtmann, all of Albers, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mary Ann Spaeth of Trenton, Ill., Dolores (Cyril) Poettker of Breese, Ill., and Ruth Huegen of Trenton, Ill.; a brother, Greg (Dot) Holtmann of New Baden, Ill.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Adeline Holtmann of Germantown, Ill., Adrian and Trudy Toennies of Trenton, Ill., Dolores Lampe of Aviston, Ill., Dolly Lampe of Breese, Ill., Ralph and Florence Lampe of Aviston, Ill., and Marie Litteken of Charleston, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice and will be received at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hempenfuneralhome.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers, Ill.

Funeral: Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers, Ill., with the Rev. Jack Joyce officiating.

Dennis and family...I am so sorry to hear that your father has now passed away. Seems that frequently spouses don't live very long after their loss. I am sure they had a wonderful life and certainly left a legacy of good children and grandchildren. Thinking of you in this time of sorrow.
