Steeleville, Illinois - STEELEVILLE – David A. Lappe, Sr., 86, of Steeleville, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at his home in Steeleville, Illinois.

David was born on January 16, 1939, in Breese, Illinois, to John and Helen (Brewer) Lappe. He married Betty A. Hornbostel on April 27, 1957, at Immanuel Lutheran Church - Westpoint. She preceded him in death on October 30, 2020. David was retired from Ford Motor Company, St. Louis, Mo. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church - West Point, Campbell Hill, Illinois, and the United Auto Workers Union.

David is survived by his children: Scott Lappe of New Athens, Ill., Karrie (Rick) Quigley of New Athens, Ill., Shelly (Kenneth) Shevlin of Freeburg, Ill.; his grandchildren: Joshua (Catherine) Swan of Dallas, Texas, Chelsea, Ezekiel, Jacob Lappe of Adair, Okla., Cameron (Kalee) Lappe of St. Louis, Mo., Derrick Quigley of St. Louis, Mo., Sarah (Andrew) Leonard of Chatham, Ill., Kayla Lappe of California, Owen Lappe of Waterloo, Ill.; his great grandchildren: Jason, Elena, and Isabelle Swan, Ellison Leonard; his siblings: JoHanna Lynn, Evelyn Cortner, Wilson Lappe, Helen Hulvey, Richard Lappe, Dale Lappe, John Lappe, Dorothy Higgin, Dennis Lappe, and Margie Timmermann.

David was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Kevin and David, Jr.; two brothers, Robert and Danny; and a sister, Lydia Schwalb.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, 2 pm, at Immanuel Lutheran Church – West Point, Campbell, Illinois, with Rev. Mark Sedwick officiating. Burial to follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Campbell Hill, Illinois. Visitation will be Saturday morning, where friends may call from 10 am to the time of the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery Fund and can be mailed to Wilson's Funeral Home, P.O. Box 217, Steeleville, Illinois 62288.
