Denise Durr Obituary

Denise Durr
December 22, 1959 - August 14, 2022
Dorchester, Illinois - Denise Durr, beloved wife, sister, mother, aunt, cousin, and friend born on December 22, 1959 passed on from this world on Sunday August 14, 2022 peacefully in her home in Dorchester, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother Virginia Martin-Schmidt, her fathers John Tisdale and Bill Schmidt, her sister Patricia Tisdale-Dunahee, brother Robert Martin, nephew Jason Hensler and niece Michelle Schmidt.
Surviving are her husband Henry Lee Durr, Sister Jaime Ponder, Brothers Douglas Schmidt, Larry Schmidt, and Lee Jay Martin. Also her children and grandchildren: Daughters Jodi Limper, Virginia Lugge, and Bobbie McCloud and Sons Brandon Durr and Samuel Durr. Grandchildren Hannah Chopwiskyj, Jeren Chopwiskyj, Ransom Lugge, Rallye Lugge, Madison McCloud, Delia Sybert, Addison Durr, Jake Durr, and Paisley Durr. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Chris Martin, Danielle Hudson, Timothy Dunahee, Richard Ponder, Aaron Ponder, Jennifer Martin, Kathryn Martin, Cindie Schmidt, and Maggie Schmidt. Her family is deep and wide, and not everyone can fit into this simple publication, but we acknowledge and appreciate the love for Denise by In-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews along with several dear friends.
Those that knew Denise, knew her heart was always looking for an opportunity to act. She was constantly seeking the perfect gift for a friend, or looking for a way to give back to those around her. Whether through working on grants and donations for communities such as the Summerfield Park, arranging poker runs and fundraisers for various motorcycle clubs and causes, or simply working to improve and benefit her beloved Lake Gillespie… She was driven. She was fierce and fiery when it came to her rights and politics, not afraid to speak up for what she thought was right. She was raised Catholic and held her faith in daily devotions and within these various acts of service. More than anything, in recent years, she developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors and Lake Gillespie, often calling her cabin her "place for peace" and made many fond memories with very special friends.
A celebration of life event will be held at Runway Lounge, 314 W Bethalto Dr, in Bethalto Illinois on August 20th at 1pm to 5pm, please come share your memories and stories.
