Donna Altemeier Obituary

Donna Altemeier

July 29, 1953 - August 2, 2024

Belleville, Illinois - Donna Jean Wilhemina Altemeier, nee Lickenbrock, 71, of Belleville, IL, born July 29, 1953, in Belleville, IL, died Friday, August 2, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

"Ms. Donna", as her students knew her, worked for 25 years in the office at Roosevelt School, Belleville, IL. Her Roosevelt family was so very special to her. Donna was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church. She was also a very active member of her community who served as past-president of the West End Khoury League, coached volleyball for many years at St. Augustine Catholic School, and served on the catholic school picnic committee. She enjoyed golfing in the Tuesday night golf league at the Orchards and was an auxiliary member of the Shiloh Eagle's.

Above all, Donna cherished spending time with her dear family and friends. She generously opened her pool up for everyone to enjoy, and she had many wonderful memories of swimming with each and every one of her nieces and nephews. Donna also made birthdays special for her three granddaughters and took them on annual birthday shopping trips. She always looked forward to trips with her closest girlfriends to Destin, Lake Norfork, and anywhere "The Flock" chose to land. Donna has touched the hearts of so many people. Her memory will live on in all of us.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin G. and Verna C., nee Middendorf, Lickenbrock; a grandson, Justin Altemeier; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clarence and Edith Altemeier; a sister-in-law, Marcia (Phillip) Rengel; and a niece, Holly Rengel.

Surviving are her loving husband of 52 years, Mark Altemeier "Mr. Donna", whom she married May 26, 1972; two sons, Brian Altemeier (Lynn Crawley) and Scott (Tasha) Altemeier; three grandchildren, Anna, Peyton, and Mylie Altemeier; her siblings, Kenneth F. (Elaine) Lickenbrock, Debra L. (Dennis) Wilburn, and Kristine M. (Tim) Albrecht; her nieces and nephews, angel nurse Lindsey (Steve) Brede, her goddaughter Katie (Michael) Karr, Kyle Wilburn, Lauren (Aaron) Branch, Mitchell (Samantha) Ettling, Taylor (Collin) Mingo, Karlee (Taylor) Schmitt, and Heather Richter; great-nieces and great-nephews, Jolie Branch, Jordyn Ettling, Carter Dill, Laynee Dill, Ashton Brede, Bennett Brede, Kamryn Karr, Andy Karr, Evelyn Wilburn, and Kinley Wilburn; her special friend, Debbie Tribout (Bill Lee); her godson, Jason (Christina) Keck; countless cousins and wonderful friends, especially her angel nurses, Barb Masters, Nancy Truttmann, and Ginger Bourn; and her beloved Bernedoodle, Izzy.

Donna's family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses at Hospice of Southern Illinois for all their loving care.
