Albert S. Defina

Albert Defina of Weston, passed away peacefully late Sunday evening April 20th, 2014 surrounded by his loving family in his home at the age of 86. Born on August 8, 1927 in Newton; son of the late Isidoro and Angelina (Cappadona) Defina, Al was raised and educated in Waltham and moved to Weston in 1970 to raise his family. A graduate of Waltham High School, Al was self-employed in the Construction and Landscape design industry for years. He owned and operated Defina & Sons Incorporated for years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. Al was a generous benefactor with time and money to the Waltham Boys & Girls Club over the years. He was a longtime member of the Waltham Rotary Club and Filicudi Saint Stephen Society. Through the years Al enjoyed playing Ice Hockey even semi-professional with the Fairfield Jets. His one passion in life was dancing any time he could especially Ballroom Dancing. Beloved husband for 28 years to the late Anna M. (Giampietro) Defina. He is survived by his devoted children Sandra Illich and her husband John of Hampstead, NH and Gary W. Defina and his wife Sheila of Eagle, CO, his cherished grandchildren Theresa Illich, Annailies Rasmussen, Eric Illich, Danielle Defina and Dante Defina, his dear sister Eleanor Vanaria of Waltham, and his loving longtime companion Bobbie Ferullo of Newton. In addition he is survived by many nieces & nephews. Brother of the late Stephen A. Defina Funeral Services were held from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels, 773 Moody St, WALTHAM with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Alberts Life at Saint Julias Church. Interment with Military Honors followed at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
