Gerald W. Teague
January 19, 1930 - April 2, 2021
Belleville, Illinois - Gerald W. Teague, 91, of Belleville, IL, born January 19, 1930, in Farber, MO, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 2, 2021, at his residence, after a lengthy illness.
Gerald entered the U. S. Army in May of 1947, receiving his high school diploma while serving in Germany. He left the Army in April 1952 and worked various jobs before enlisting in the United States Air Force in November 1952. Gerald served in Germany, England, Japan, and Thailand before retiring as a Technical Sergeant on February 1, 1970.
After his retirement from military service, he worked at the United States Postal Service in Belleville, IL from April 1970 until January 1990. Jerry spent the next seven years working for the Village of Swansea as a dispatcher, and four years working at the Southwestern Illinois Correctional Center. He enjoyed watching Cardinal baseball on television, tending to his garden, having coffee with his friends at the Belleville East YMCA, and especially loved the time that he spent with his grandchildren and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" and Verdia, nee McIntosh, Teague; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Bernita, nee Hart, Saxe; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred (Fred) Wilkinson, Jean (Richard) Branstetter, Mary (Bill) Crow, and Velma (Robert) Motley; and a brother, Elmer M. "Mack" Teague.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Mary Jane, nee Saxe, Teague, whom he married on October 7, 1963, in Blytheville, AR; two sons, William A. "Andy" (Lisa) Teague of Woodbridge, VA, and Christopher "Chris" (Amy) Teague of Wildwood, MO; five grandchildren, Samantha Teague of Holly Springs, GA, Avery, Ainsley, and Abigail Teague of Woodbridge, VA, and Mattingly C. Teague of Wildwood, MO; a great-grandson, Noah A. Waters of Holly Springs, GA; eight siblings, William "Bill" (Deborah) Teague of Mexico, MO, Donna (Claudie) Tipton of Farber, MO, Jim E. (Ardis) Teague of Caldwell, ID, Jerry L. (Patty) Teague of Mexico, MO, Forrest "Bud" (Leota) Teague of Vandalia, MO, Charles "Ronnie" (Irma Sue) Teague of Springfield, MO,
Jack (Linda) Teague of Village of Loch Lloyd, MO, and G. Faye Teague of Overland Park, KS; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HSHS Hospice Southern Illinois, to Belleville East YMCA, or to the charity of the donor's choice. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
Funeral: Private graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

A SLOW SALUTE – TO A FELLOW VETERAN
THANK YOU - FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY. You are one of our heroes. We will remember you always and miss you dearly. Take your Warrior's rest for a duty well done.
I wish to extend to members of your family my deepest sympathy on their loss. May the force of GOD be with them as they walk through this difficult time. May the loving promises of our LORD and Savior comfort them and give them peace.
