Gloria Knackstedt
Gloria M. Knackstedt, nee Barbieri, 83, of Granite City, Ill., born Sept. 20, 1922, in Granite City, Ill., died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at her residence.
Mrs. Knackstedt retired in 1983, after 15 years as a secretary for Famous Barr. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, a volunteer at Gateway Regional Medical Center and Jolly Quilters from Chouteau Township, she was called "Sunshine Lady".
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Knackstedt, whom she married, Dec. 21, 1944; her parents, Joseph and Carmella, nee Bello, Barbieri; two brothers; and five sisters.
She is survived by four daughters, Cathy (Barry) Teetor of Mount Olive, Ill., Carol (Dennis) Mangiaracino of Granite City, Ill., Christy (Duane) Stroh of Lincoln, Neb., and Laura (Dan) Flaherty of Chesterfield, Mo.; a sister, Lucy Lucido of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Gateway Regional Hospice.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday Nov. 3, 2005, at Irwin Maryville Road Chapel, Granite City, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Granite City, Ill., with the Rev. Larry Brunette officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Edwardsville, Ill.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. You are all in my prayers. However, it did take me to the past when we all played together. Times were so much fun when we were little. Playing kick the can, softball in the middle of the street, going into the "weeds".
