Golda Grau Obituary
Golda M. "Goldie" Grau, nee Harris, 86, of Belleville, Ill., formerly of Freeburg, Ill., born Oct. 2, 1926, in Dexter, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at Delmar Gardens on the Green, Chesterfield, Mo.
Mrs. Grau was a retired senior companion with the Illinois Department on Aging. She was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Walter W. Grau, whom she married on Oct. 4, 1944, and who died Jan. 9, 1981; her parents, Lawrence E. and Pauline, nee Sullenger, Harris; a brother, Eaul Edgar Harris; a brother in infancy; a sister, Gloria Mae Barfield; seven brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; two grandsons, Johnny E. Grau and one in infancy; and a granddaughter, Heather L. Deterding.
Surviving are four sons and two daughters, Joyce A. Weber of St. Louis, Mo., Allen L. (Debbie) Grau of Haubstadt, Ind., Jack J. Grau of Lenzburg, Ill., Jim W. (Cindy) Grau of Fayetteville, Ill., Debbie S. (Dale) Wilson of Belleville, Ill., and Mark A. (Lisa) Grau of Freeburg, Ill.; 20 grandchildren, Heather Swan (Brad), Ryan Bray, Tara (Rob) Russell, Todd Grau, Josh Grau, Jason Grau (Alyssa), Brandy Grau (Jake), Brittany Grau, Kim Wachtel, Melissa Procter, John Nelison, Michelle (Jim) Hoch, Dakota Nelison, Natasha (Christopher) Wills, Charlie Wilson (Jill), Danika Wilson (Jimmy), Claire Weichert (Mike), Jason Grau, Jake Grau, and Joe Grau (Brooke); 26 great-grandchildren; her sister, Bonnie S. Mutto of Belleville, Ill.; three sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Delmar Gardens on the Green, 15197 Clayton Road, Chesterfield, Mo. 63017. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, Ill., and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Freeburg, Ill.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Freeburg, Ill., with Father Mark Reyling and Father James Thomas concelebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Freeburg, Ill.
