My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Family, Jeremy's fellow officers and friends. I had the privilege of meeting and visiting with Jeremy on several occasions to include my visit just two week prior to this tragic event. Jeremy touched all our lives; I know Cheryl and Jeremy were deeply in love and it was really wonderful to see the two together. I know that Cheryl and her kids will miss Jeremy as he was someone very special. He was someone they could go to if they had a problem, he was always doing things with Cheryl and the kids. I know Cheryl and the kids, like everyone else will miss his day to day presence. I hope you all can take comfort in knowing that he will always be in all of our hearts and that he is in his rightful place in the Kingdom of Heaven.

I also wanted to thank you and your family for including Cheryl and her family I know that did and will continue to help her through this difficult time. May the good Lord continue to bless you and your entire family.

April 28, 2006

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I hung out with Jeremy in high school especially in the art room & one thing I will always remember about him are those police accessory magazines he would bring in.He would talk about what kind of lights he was going to put on top of his cop car (he made sure we knew that there was a difference between all those lights).Class of 98

Earl, Diane and family,

It's with my deepest sympathy that I write this note to your family. I have always been very connected to the Cahokia Police Dept, first by my brother Kevin who served together with Earl and now by my nephew Chris serving with Jeremy. I have read the news articles and watched the newscast on the web, and it was so obvious that Jeremy was a true hero while he walked this earth. My heart was touched when I saw Chris helping to carry Jeremy to his final resting place, what an honor he must have felt to have known your son. I know that Chris along with all of Jeremy's fellow officers, firefighters and EMT's are suffering a great loss, just as you are. To honor Jeremy’s memory, we should all strive to live life with the passion and commitment he did. May you find peace in knowing who Jeremy was for the short time he was with you. Yesterday's outpouring of love & sympathy was a true testament to what a great young man you raised - he was a hero to all. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Family of Jeremy Chambers,

I was the Senior Class Advisor for Jeremy's class at Gibault Catholic High School, and I also taught several of his English classes where he joined in the laughter during some of our lessons. He had a great smile, quiet disposition, and diligence to complete his assignments. He enjoyed the senior class retreat and got along with everyone he met. I can even recall that he had a terrific time on Field Day with the senior class.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for your tragic loss of a fine young man who had "gone forth among the people to serve" as stated in mission statement of the high school. What an exemplary man he became - a real hero to so many.

May God bless all of you as we pray for his soul. May the thoughts and prayers of those who knew Jeremy comfort you.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kathleen E. Bishop

Earl, I was deeply saddened to learn of Jeremy's sudden passing in the line of duty. I know you felt very fortunate to have a fine, upstanding son such as Jeremy. I am certain he made you proud the day he was sworn in as a Cahokia Police Officer.

I hope in time God will bring peace to you and your family.

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts and prayers of many are with you at this time of sorrow. As the family continue to live without his physical presence, we know god has a plan and would keep him near. He love his family as much as he loved his job, so please lets not let him be forgotton.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Chambers family. Being the wife of a police officer and also a mother, I can't imagine what they're going through. I knew Jeremy from being a police explorer and also from the fire department. He was a one of a kind person and will be deeply missed.

Earl & Diane,

Jeremy will always be in your hearts. Only time will make your lives easier. Find strength in your family and friends - the pain will fade but not his memory.

So sorry...
