John Gagen

John C. "Jack" Gagen, 78, of Belleville, Ill., born March 6, 1937, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at Saint Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Gagen was a social studies teacher at Althoff Catholic High School for 42 years.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Myrtle, nee Colgan, Gagen.

Surviving are his son, Tim (Diahann) Gagen of Belleville, Ill.; daughter, Ann Roberson of Wichita, Kan.; four grandchildren, Ashley and Donovan Gagen, and Andrew and Xavier Roberson; and three brothers, Robert (June) Gagen of Belleville, Ill., James (Margie) Gagen of Licking, Mo., and William (Kittie) Gagen of Lebanon, Ill.

Memorials may be made to the Althoff Alumni Fund. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at the church, with Msgr. Jack McEvilly officiating. Cremation services will follow.
