John Tate

Pastor John Anthony Tate, 65, of Centreville, Ill., born Nov. 27, 1948, in St. Louis, Mo., passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

Pastor John was retired from the U.S. Postal service as a letter carrier after 40 years of service. He was a pastor for over 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda, nee Hill, Tate; and his father, Sammie Tate.

Surviving are his mother, children, grandchildren, brothers, sister, nephews and nieces.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Cahokia Family Worship Center, 1515 Jerome Lane, Cahokia, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the church with Pastor Rick Cantrell officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Sorry For Your Loss. Please accept this electronic message in lieu of a Sympathy Card. Local National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) volunteers provide help in reporting the death of any federal civilian retiree or a retiree's spouse to proper authorities. They will explain the process as needed and if requested, can report the death to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for you. The NARFE Service Center is located in building 50, Scott AFB.
